Here’s an updated Dallas Stars roster and salary cap status after Saturday’s free agent activity. The Stars signed forwards Martin Hanzal (three years, $14.25 million), Tyler Pitlick (three years, $3 million), and Brian Flynn (one year, two way -$700,000 at NHL level). Also, they re-signed D Patrik Nemeth to a one-year, $945,000 contract.
So, the Stars now have eleven likely NHL forwards under contract with restricted free agents Radek Faksa and Brett Ritchie still to sign. There are eight defensemen under contract with RFA Jamie Oleksiak still to sign. And, of course, the two goaltenders who are both under contract.
Even with the four contracts signed today, the Stars still have a little more than $10 million in cap space. If there is a move or two out there, the Stars have some space with which to work. Again, the table below isn’t a projected lineup with line combinations or defense pairs. Just players slotted into possible positions. The numbers listed are cap hits and are provided by capfriendly.com.
